And about half of the saturated fat in coconut comes from lauric acid, which can help raise levels of heart-protective HDL cholesterol – the good cholesterol. That makes coconut water a healthy choice especially for mid-lifers (defined as people above 40 years old) who are looking for a healthier choice drink.
Coconut Water Helps Reduce Blood Sugar Level
Aside from its anti-aging properties, research has shown that coconut water can lower blood sugar and improve other health markers in animals with diabetes. In a study from 2015, rats with diabetes that were treated with coconut water maintained better blood sugar levels than the control group. The same study also found that the rats given coconut water had lower levels hemoglobin indicating better long-term blood sugar control.
